Fume extraction & ducting

Beckox fabricates and installs complete fume extraction systems in corrosion-resistant thermoplastics — capture hoods, ducting runs, dampers, fans and discharge stacks — sized to draw contaminated air away from the process and the people working around it.

Extraction that suits the process

Effective local exhaust ventilation starts at the point of capture. Lip extraction along tank edges, enclosing hoods over hot processes, canopies and slotted plenums each suit different duties, and the ducting behind them has to hold design velocities without leaks, condensation traps or flat spots that collect liquor.

Because we fabricate rather than buy standard spiral duct, runs can be built to the geometry of your building — offsets, tapers, long radius bends and branch pieces are welded to suit, not forced from stock fittings. Thermoplastic duct is light enough to hang from existing steel in most cases and completely immune to the corrosive condensate that destroys galvanised systems above plating and pickling lines.

Supplied as a working system

  • Capture hoods, lip extraction and slotted plenums fabricated to each tank or bench
  • Polypropylene and PVC ducting with welded joints, dampers and access points
  • Corrosion-resistant fans, flexible connections and anti-vibration mounts
  • External stacks with supporting steelwork and guys where required
  • Alterations and extensions to live systems, planned around your production

Extraction canopies and receiving hoods

The capture point decides whether the whole system works. A canopy over a hot tank relies on the thermal plume rising into it, so it needs to be large enough and low enough to catch that plume before cross-draughts scatter it; a receiving hood over a machine needs to sit where the contaminant is actually thrown. We fabricate canopies, receiving hoods, slotted plenums and lip extraction in polypropylene and PVC to suit the tank or machine they serve — corrosion-proof, and shaped to the job rather than bought from a catalogue of galvanised sizes.

Ductwork repairs and LEV remedial work

Extraction ductwork above plating, pickling and etching lines lives in the worst possible environment: warm, wet, acidic condensate on the inside and the weather on the outside. Corroded or damaged runs can be repaired, re-routed or replaced section by section, usually without taking the whole system down. Where a thorough examination of your LEV has identified defects in the ductwork or capture hoods, we carry out the remedial fabrication — we are fabricators, not an LEV testing house, so the statutory examination itself stays with whoever you use for testing.
