Fume enclosures
A fume enclosure surrounds a fume-producing process so contaminated air can be captured at source with far lower extraction volumes than open-room ventilation. Beckox fabricates enclosures to fit the machine, tank or process they serve — with access, vision panels and extraction designed in from the start.
Containment beats dilution
Enclosing a process is almost always more effective — and cheaper to run — than trying to ventilate the room around it. A well-designed enclosure needs only enough airflow to keep air moving inwards through its openings, so fans, ducting and any downstream scrubbing plant can all be smaller.
The craft is in designing containment that production can live with: hinged and removable panels where maintenance happens, clear vision panels where operators need sight of the work, brush strips and flexible curtains where material passes through. Because every enclosure is fabricated from flat sheet, the geometry follows the machine — not the other way round.
- Machine and tank enclosures in PVC, polypropylene and clear materials
- Hinged, sliding and removable access panels
- Extraction spigots positioned for even capture
- Interfaces with robots, transporters and material handling
Retrofitting containment to existing plant
Most enclosure work is retrofit: a process that has grown, a substance that has been reclassified, or an extraction system that no longer keeps up. We survey the machine in place, design the enclosure around its real movements and maintenance access, and fabricate in sections that can be carried in and assembled around plant that cannot be moved. Where the process is already extracted, an enclosure often lets the same fan do a far better job — capture improves because the opening the air must enter through gets smaller, not because anything works harder.
